Comment by Thottbot I'm standing right in front of the shrine right now and he's not visible killed myself a minute ago and he was in ghost form. Comment by Thottbot Well, I came up here a couple days after patch 1. Comment by Thottbot I hang around Xr alot, and never saw him before. But I'm lvl 40 now and on my mount and he is righ there, I thought it was a quest or something so I searched on this site. He is visible to me alive. Comment by Thottbot yea thats really cool if u look at the first comment click the link its really sad he died so young.

Comment by Thottbot "In the Barrens, on a hill southwest of Crossroads there is a small shrine. Comment by Thottbot He is to the west of XR Comment by Thottbot Thats so freakin sad! And he was cute too :. Comment by Thottbot There is another memorial for a dead developer. Dont remember his name, but he is in the most southeastern part of Hillsbrad Foothills.

The shrine and the spirit healer are in memory of him. A really cool memorial, if you ask me. Edited, Tue Jul 26 Comment by Allakhazam Inscription on shrine is M K. Comment by Allakhazam yeah.. Koiter but i wonder what it is for?

Maybe it's level based? Comment by Allakhazam I've been there all the time on different characters, but as my Undead, I saw the Spirit Healer So I guess that counts as 'dead' too. In the cinematic "Fire and Fury" Raynor walks up to a dead marine, bends down, picks up his dog tag, and looks at it.

The Name on it reads "M. At first it doesn't seem important, but later in the cinematic Raynor talks about things worth fighting for and takes another long look at the dog tag, as if to say it was someone close or important. The name was never mentioned any other time during the campaign, so I'm at a loss as to who that was.

The name is a tribute to a blizz artist who passed away. Last edited: Aug 26, Michel Koiter was the twin brother of Rene Koiter, and both worked as artists at Blizzard Entertainment.

Comment by i never did think that this was the memorial of Michael Koiter. Its good of blizzard to have maken a memorial for him. Comment by I love how Blizzard leaves tributes such as quests, NPCs, places, to Blizzard employees that have passed away. Kudos to Michel. Comment by 32ndShadowwind Blizzard seems to have a history of putting memorials in for players, employees, or friends.

So far I've found seven feel free to point it out if you spot one I've missed. Koiter is a slightly more complicated memorial. Atop the structure is an orc that is a copy of Michel Koiter's character from the WoW beta. He died in of unknown causes. Ahab Wheathoof and his dog Kyle are the creation of Ezra Chatterton, a young player with cancer who got to spend a day at Blizzard headquarters thanks to the Make A Wish Foundation.

He passed away in October of when his tumor, which had been in remission, came back. His main character, Ephoenix, can sometimes very very rarely still be seen online on the Norgannon server when his father logs on. She ends the quest Alicia's Poem. In Hillsbrad there is Rousch , the character of Anthony Ray Stark yes, real name who passed away in in a scuba accident. He is friendly to both factions. He is apparently a memorial to a deceased player who loved playing AV, but information other than this is scarce.

I was unable to find a date of death or whether the patrolling character was a clone of his or not. Crusader Bridenbrad the Argent Crusader dying of the plague in Icecrown appears to be based off of a real person, Bradford C. Bridenbecker, who died of cancer in He is involved in a medium-long questline starting with A Tale of Valor , given to you by Tirion Fordring after you've unlocked the Crusaders' Pinnacle. It is speculated that he may be related to a Blizzard programmer.

There was no other information. Comment by Netheral A sad thought that this might be going away come cataclysm. Comment by R. P, we'll all remember you. Comment by Luciferums I love the way blizz does things like this, memorial marks and etc Comment by M. Koiter appears in Starcraft aswell now. Comment by Will Koiters shrine remain in Cata? When I first heard that they were remaking the barrens I thought they might remove it.

Comment by catepandora When you approach the memorial, your map shows your current location as " Shrine of the Fallen Warrior ". Comment by Who would have thought, that there will be so many honor, in a simple game like that. And by honor, I do not mean the one you get from killing enemy players, I mean REAL honor, that touches your heart, and stays in your memory.

I started from the memorial of Koiter, and I ended up reading stories, that put pain in my chest. I have played this game from around 7 years, and had no idea that there is so deep meaning in simple things like that.

Which leads me to an idea, that will ease my pain, and most likely the pain of others. On each of their respective birthdays, and the days that all of them have died, aswell during the Day Of The Dead, I will go to all of their memorials, and give respect to their deaths.
